anotherkathyKathy Caiello has been a fitness professional since 1980 and has always been interested in health and fitness. At a very young age (10 years old), she set up obstacle courses in her back yard to help some of the neighborhood kids “get in shape.” Pursuing a career in fitness seemed natural after growing up with siblings who were athletic and health conscious.

She first studied dental hygiene and then nursing in college, but after graduating, Kathy decided that teaching others to become healthy and fit was truly her passion. Further education was needed to pursue this new career path in the Health and Fitness arena. Her accreditations and certifications from the American Council on Exercise include Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Fitness Trainer and Advanced Exercise Specialist (assisting people with special needs).

In reaching out to a wider audience, Kathy made an exercise video in the early 1990s, while working at Gold’s Gym in Dewitt, called “Absolutely Abs,” which she marketed regionally. That video opened the door to her television and radio career, which included the following: fitness segments on News Channel 9 for 12 years, the featured fitness personality for WHEN weekly radio “Sports Talk,” “Magazine 13” fitness specials, WTVH/TV 5 “Focus on Fitness” special, and her own fitness segments called “FitStop with Kathy Caiello” for News 10 Now.

Other accolades include being a Reebok-sponsored athlete and member of the Reebok C.O.R.P.S. Group for four years. In 2002 she became a MasterTrainer for WITS, the World Instructor Training Schools.

In keeping with the fitness/health theme, Kathy has volunteered and participated in fund-raising for the MDA, Rescue Mission, American Red Cross, Arthritis Foundation, Oswego County Health Fair, Menorah Park, several Syracuse- area schools’ Kid’s Health and Fitness Seminars. For many years, she has led and still leads the “warm up” for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She also has been a spokesperson at local spas, salons and athletic footwear businesses to help promote health and wellness.

Mixing business, pleasure and fitness together, Kathy established Camp Caiello. Camp Caiello can be anything from an all-out pamper/rejuvenation party with salon and health services, dinner, a party, a weekend adventure, or boot camp (“Sneaker Camp,” as she refers to it). She once took on a group of seven individuals looking to lose weight and get in shape, on a grueling 90-day course that started at 5 a.m., six days a week for 90 days to help them reach their goals. Kathy says that it was a lot of work for everyone involved, but it was great fun and everyone got great results. At the end of 90 days, the secret to success was due to Kathy, the instructor and to the individuals who were many pounds lighter and much healthier.

Kathy is currently living a life long dream. She personally trains about 30 clients; men and women of all shapes, sizes and ages. Having boundless energy, Kathy teaches 18 classes at her new fitness center, Kathy Caiello’s FitStop, located at 215 West Manlius Street, East Syracuse NY.

Continuous cross training along with moderation and consistency is her philosophy, which is reflected in her classes and training sessions. Her career has been dedicated to teaching and sharing information on health and fitness with her students, clients and members.

Kathy believes that a warm and friendly atmosphere and a true interest in her students’ and clients’ total well being are what keeps them coming back year after year. She radiates enthusiasm and energy as she shares her knowledge of the health and fitness industry which has qualified her as a multi-certified fitness professional.
